UTP today signed a Collaboration Agreement and Professorial Chair Agreement with Halliburton Technical Excellence Centre Sdn Bhd in the university's quest to become a leader of technology education and a driving force of research.
Signing on behalf of Halliburton was its Malaysia Country Manager En Razien Ali Liyackat Ali and Halliburton Technical Excellence Centre Sdn Bhd Director Mr You Soon Tiong, while UTP was represented by its Vice Chancellor Prof Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation Prof Ir Dr Mohd Shahir Liew.
The signing of the agreements was witnessed by PETRONAS Chairman and UTP Pro Chancellor YBhg Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh, Institute of Technology PETRONAS Sdn Bhd Chairman YBhg Dato' Raiha Azni Abd Rahman and Halliburton Vice President of Asia Pacific Business Development and National Oil Company Mr Ramanrao Abdullah.
UTP has a long-standing partnership with Halliburton. They first came together on 20 January 2005 through a learning collaboration agreement. Through this agreement, a Halliburton Technical Excellence Centre was established in UTP. Since then, both parties have successfully achieved many milestones together in academic, research as well as industry-university collaboration.
With all the support that Halliburton has provided, UTP has progressed from just a teaching university into a research-intensive university that is amongst the best in this region.
