Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), a national rail service provider, inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in a virtual ceremony held via Microsoft Teams today. The MoU is signed to further enhance the Industry and Academic collaboration to spur the development and sustainability of the country’s rail services.
The MoU focuses on research and innovation of rolling stock, development of training programme modules and curriculum, enhancing human talent as in capacity and capability building.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of KTMB, En Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, “We anticipate that this collaboration will deliver specific outcomes for both parties such as academic collaboration including development of course and curriculum with our Centre of Excellence MyRA, publication for research related to railways, professional interchanges in academic seminars, training, learning and consultancy, joint research and development activities in the areas of operation and maintenance of rolling stock and few other areas.”
According to the Vice Chancellor of UTP, Professor Ts. Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib, “We believe through our strategic collaboration with KTMB, we can bridge the gap between industry and academia by providing services and solutions that are really needed for the industry. Recognising the dynamic nature of this ever-challenging business world, we can significantly contribute towards Malaysia’s smart railway infrastructure.”
