Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has lent a helping hand to 211 underprivileged students around Perak Tengah and Tronoh by providing them essential school supplies under the UTP Menggapai Impian and Yayasan UTP School Kits Giving Campaign 2022.
The school supplies were handed over to the principals or representatives of nine schools, namely, SMK Iskandar Shah, SMK Sultan Muhammad Shah, SMK Layang-Layang Kiri, SMK Dato’ Abdul Rahman Yaakub, SMK Lambor Kiri, SMK Dato Seri Maharaja Lela, SMK Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah, SMK Seri Iskandar, SMK Tronoh as well as UTP janitors and security personnel recently.
The UTP Menggapai Impian and Yayasan UTP School Kits Giving Campaign is part of the university’s social responsibility initiatives to ease the financial burden of low-income families from the surrounding areas, especially during the pandemic, by equipping their children with school kits. This is to motivate their children to learn and give them a chance for a better future.
It is also a means for UTP and PETRONAS staff to give back to those in need and foster the spirit of sharing.
Under this campaign, UTP and PETRONAS staff volunteer to sponsor a minimum of RM200 for each student. Students will receive school necessities in the form of bags, facemasks, hand sanitisers and shopping vouchers.
This year, about RM42,000 worth of donations were received from UTP and PETRONAS staff.
