Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and Sapura Energy Berhad have solidified their longstanding partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC).
This collaboration underscores the dedication of both institutions to fostering academic-industry cooperation and enhancing the overall educational experience for students.
The MoC was signed by UTP Vice Chancellor Professor Dato’ Ts Dr Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Associate Professor Ir Dr Rosdiazli Ibrahim, while Sapura Energy Berhad was represented by its Chief People Officer Puspa Hanita Abd Aziz and the Head of Human Resource Administration for Lumut Fabrication Unit and Supply Bases Rosdy Abdullah.
The MoC will encompass key areas such as academic, research, and mobility programmes.
In the academic realm, the agreement includes the appointment of industry experts for knowledge sharing, Sapura Energy Berhad's involvement as external examiners, and industry visits to provide students with a practical understanding of real-world applications.
In the field of research, the collaboration will focus on joint research and development activities to address real-world challenges in the energy sector, along with expertise sharing between UTP faculty and Sapura Energy Berhad researchers.
Through the MoC, both parties are also committed to jointly developing well-rounded global graduates by providing them with a comprehensive and industry-relevant education. The collaboration sets the stage for continued growth and innovation, benefiting both institutions and contributing to the development of skilled professionals in the industry.
According to Mohamed Ibrahim, "We express our gratitude to Sapura Energy Berhad for this collaborative endeavour and we are excited about the prospects that lie ahead.
