1. Tapestry of Colours Charity Dinner (TOCCD) 2020

In YUTP's effort to provide a platform to raise funds, the Tapestry of Colours fundraising concert was organised as a fundraising dinner. The Tapestry of Colours Charity Dinner (TOCCD) 2020 was held on 10 January 2020 at the Diamond Ballroom, EQ Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The dinner, held with the support from PETRONAS and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), aimed to raise funds for the granting of scholarships to deserving UTP students.

Contributions for the charity dinner came from corporate and individual sponsors such as Dialog Group Berhad, Seadrill, TechnipFMC, Conocophillips, Synerlitz Sdn Bhd, YB Yeo Bee Yin (UTP Alumni), under the 'Peruntukan Khas Menteri' – Special Minister's Allocation, KLCC Property Holdings Berhad, Transwater API Sdn Bhd, QR Apparel Sdn Bhd, Uzma Berhad and Code of Origin Sdn Bhd.

Guests were also entertained with performances from UTP talented engineering, science and technology students from UTP Performing Arts Group, Interbeatz Dance Crew, Petra, Virtuoso, Gajjdi Jawani, Sanggar Kirana and UTP String Ensemble.

The fundraising efforts were categorized under 2 income sources where in FY2020 YUTP managed to collect RM 179,600 from sponsorship and table sales. In addition to that, another RM39,021.80 were collected from Crowdfunding programme on the event night. In total, a sum of RM218,621.80, was successfully collected for FY2020 from the event. 


2. Corporate Donation to UTP Asnaf


YUTP has also received a once-off contribution from generous corporation such as Ace Identity Sdn Bhd amounting to RM25,000 to be disbursed to poor Muslim students to cover their essential needs.

A mock cheque presentation ceremony was held to commemorate such generous donation in conjunction with Tabung Amanah Zakat UTP (TAZU) Special Programme Briefing Session on 29th July 2020. The mock cheque was presented by En Hamaludin bin Ali, Chief Executive Officer, Ace Identity Sdn Bhd to Puan Adela Dinyati, YUTP Director and witnessed by Prof Dr Nor Hisham bin Hamid, UTP Deputy Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs and Alumni. The session was also attended by 200 UTP students who are also the recipients of TAZU Financial Assistance Programme.


3. Donation Drive to Parents of UTP Students


During the Year End Giving Campaign 2020, Registry Department in collaboration with YUTP & TAZU has launched a special individual giving campaign, tailored to target the high-income parents of UTP students. The campaign has begun in early December 2020 and ended on 31st December 2020.
The proceeds from this campaign (for those who opt to give to YUTP), are channeled to YUTP Scholarship Fund in aiding the excellent and well deserving recipients to continue their studies in UTP.

The campaign has managed to secure a total donation of RM10,860 from 15 high income individuals.


​​​Research & Innovation
1. Joint Industry Project with Corporations

UTP had received support from corporations to collaborate in UTP Joint Industry Projects such as from Transwater Tenaga Sdn Bhd for Zeolite Reforming Naphthat for Production of Automative Gasoline and Aromatics. The total contribution is RM133,525 in 2020 with Associate Professor Dr Marappa Gounder Ramasamy as the Principal Investigator.​



​​​Student Development Activities
1. COVID-19 Kits Giving Campaign 2020

The CSR project was organised by YUTP in collaboration with UTP Technopreneurship and Alumni Relations Office in response to the urgent need of UTP communities in preventing the spread of COVID-19. During the initial stage of the pandemic, many affected UTP communities were in dire need of the necessary health supply during the first lockdown in March 2020. The initiative is part of the University Social Responsibility (USR) programme.


YUTP had received sponsorships and donations of RM25,039 from 228 donors and the COVID kits which contain of hand sanitisers and facial masks were distributed to 1,500 affected UTP students and essential workers during MCO to maintain the health and safety of UTP students in campus.


2. Menggapai Impian & YUTP School Kits Giving Campaign 2020

The CSR project was organised by YUTP in collaboration with UTP Stakeholder Management Department as part of University Social Responsibilitiy (USR) programme. The fundraising campaign was held from 4th to 31st December 2020 to alleviate the families' financial burden when it comes to back-to-school costs especially those parents that lost their income during COVID-19 pandemic.

YUTP received sponsorships and donations of more than RM101,000 and the school kits consisted of a school bag, a stationery set and a gift voucher worth of RM150 for the purchase of additional school supplies were delivered by YUTP and UTP Stakeholder Management to Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah on 18 January 2021 to be distributed to deserving students from 505 families. The identified recipients are from schools in UTP surrounding community such as Batu Gajah, Ipoh, Sungai Siput and Perak Tengah area. Other recipients include the children of UTP janitors and security personnel.
