"I am indeed grateful for YUTP."
Growing up, Prasad Madhavan learnt that success can only be achieved from hard work and perseverance, so he strived all throughout his secondary studies to excel in achieving the very best. With this, he hoped to get a scholarship to further his studies to reduce the burden of his family who depended solely on his father.
With two other siblings who had just started working and another in university, the family’s meagre income was almost insufficient on many occasions in making ends meet. So, when he was awarded with a full scholarship from YUTP after his first semester studying at UTP, he was truly humbled by the opportunity as his prayers were finally answered.
Education was always a priority to Prasad’s family. His father was willing to work in Singapore as a security personnel in order to provide for the family. There were times when almost gave up with his dream of becoming a mechanical engineering student due to the financial restraint. He even decided to take up an offer from a matriculation college for a pure science course. Despite everything looking perfect on the outside, Prasad dealt with a handful of challenges which he persevered through. Prasad Madhavan is a true epitome of what diligence is.
“I am indeed grateful to have been selected as a Yayasan UTP scholar. Without this opportunity, I would not have even dreamt of stepping into UTP, and that would have been a big loss. I do not know where I would be without Yayasan UTP. I can now look forward and design my future according to where my interests and talents lie and make a good living for myself and to help my parents.” – Prasad
