BRIEF TECHNOLOGY
ELEFence is a physical elephant deterrent fencing system that is engineered with an innovative foundation design. The main issue to be solve is the Human-Elephant Conflict (HEC).
PROBLEM STATEMENT & CURRENT ISSUESHuman-Elephant Conflict (HEC) occurrence frequency is alarming worldwide. HEC is a significant issue in Malaysia, particularly in the Peninsular, where elephant populations have come into increasing contact with human settlements and agricultural areas due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
As a result, conflicts between humans and elephants have become more frequent and intense, leading to property damage, crop raiding, and in some cases, injuries or fatalities for both humans and elephants. Human will suffer livelihood opportunities, and serious implications for elephant conservation in Malaysia, where elephants are listed as a protected species.
USEFULNESS & APPLICATION
Solving the conventional physical deterrent fencing system that suffers low lateral bearing due to substructure design, installation quality issues, not applicable for soft soil, and high maintenance.
