About Electrical & Electronics Engineering Department

Electrical UTP

Since its establishment in 1997, the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) Department has grown in the number of academic and support staff coming from diverse background, bringing with them wide industrial experiences as well experiences from the academic world. The department is located in Blocks 22 and 23 of the Academic Building Complex.

 
​We offer an industry relevant undergraduates programme and multi-disciplinary postgraduates programme serving diverse international students as well as multinational global corporate employer.
 
 

Prospective students will find a lively and vibrant community of post graduate students pursuing their MSc by research and PhDs, together with the larger body of students, the undergraduates. The vibrant student community, of postgraduate and undergraduate students, is further enhanced by the mixture of domestic and international students from countries such as Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, Sudan, Cambodia, Nigeria, Libya, Chad, Iraq, Egypt, Turkmenistan and Palestine.

​The Department is actively engaged in a number of research interests and areas which has emphasis in the area of oil and gas industries and medical diagnostics. The area where the researchers from the EEE department is currently pursuing has provided a venue for cross-disciplinary research to be done. This venue has also opened the doors for work to be done not only between different departments within the university but also with external research groups, universities and industries. This initiative is further enhanced by the establishment of research clusters within the department such as Intelligent Signal and Imaging, Pervasive System, Communication, Electronic material and devices, Automation and Control System and Power and Energy Systems.

 
 

​The curriculum is accredited by the Malaysian Quality Assurance (MQA) and Engineering Accreditation Council Malaysia (EAC), and EEE graduates have been very successful in their pursuit for career and knowledge. With such qualities, EEE graduates are highly sought after by PETRONAS, its subsidiaries and other private employers such as INTEL, Altera, Schlumberger, AMD and Motorola.
