The Faculty of Science and Information Technology which was established in 2011 consists of four departments, which are: 

• Department of Computer & Information Sciences (CIS)
  
• Department of Fundamental & Applied Sciences (FAS)​
  
• Department of Geosciences (GEO)
  
• Department of Management & Humanities (M&H)
  

Currently, the faculty is offering seven​ (7) undergraduate programmes and nine (9) postgraduate programmes.

Faculty of Science and Information Technology has become one of the most reputable and best equipped faculties in Malaysia with recognition from Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in the World University Rankings by Subjects, placed at the 230 spot in Engineering and Technology. QS had also ranked UTP in the Top 450 for Computer Science and Information Systems, Top 500 for Business and Management Studies, and Top 550 for Chemistry. Meanwhile, Top 600 for World’s University Ranking by Subject for Physics.

 

Although the departments' area of specialisations are diverse, the synergy among the faculty's members will continuously contribute to the achievement of the UTP's Vision and Mission as well as it's aspirations and milestones towards achieveing global prominence.
