​Is this programme recognised by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)?

​Will graduates be able to register as BEM Graduate Engineers? 
Yes, graduates can register under the Integrated Engineering discipline upon completion of the programme.

Is this programme accredited under the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC) or Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC)? 
This programme falls under the Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC), ensuring that graduates meet professional engineering standards.

Admission Requirements 

What are the entry requirements? 
Applicants must meet Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) general entry requirements, including qualifications such as STPM, A-Levels, or equivalent. Specific subject requirements apply. For more details, please visit: Entry Requirements.

What is the application process? 
Interested candidates can apply through our online application portal. Applicants must create a unique ID, complete the required details, and submit their application. The Registry Department will provide updates and further instructions via the system and email, ensuring a smooth admission process.

Is the application open year-round?
No, the Bachelor of Integrated Engineering with Honours programme admits new students once a year, with intake in September. We encourage candidates to apply early and monitor deadlines for a seamless application experience.

Are there additional assessments for admission?
Yes, shortlisted candidates must undergo a rigorous selection process, including cognitive ability and personality assessments. This ensures that students admitted into the programme meet the high academic and professional standards required to excel in integrated engineering.

Curriculum and Learning Experience

Ho​w long is the programme?
It is a 4-year undergraduate degree (8 semesters), including hands-on practical training and industry-linked projects.

What are the core subjects covered?
The curriculum includes fundamental engineering courses, as well as entrepreneurship, project management and national requirement subjects. The specialization modules offered in integrated engineering includes sustainability, and innovation to prepare students for real-world challenges. 

Does the programme offer flexibility in specialisation?
Yes, students can select elective courses tailored to their interests, such as Sustainable Energy and Smart Systems. These elective courses are designed based on current and future market requirements. This ensures students enrolling into this program are future ready. 

What kind of learning resources and facilities does UTP provide?
Students have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, advanced simulation tools, and collaborative learning spaces. They will also benefit from immersive teaching and learning activities in UTP’s Living Lab.

Are there industry collaborations for hands-on experience?
Yes, courses are co-design with leading industry partners, and experts will co-deliver key modules, providing hands-on exposure to real-world engineering challenges

Will there be in-campus accommodation available?
Yes. Students will be provided with accommodation for their whole education period in UTP. The cost of accommodation is vary depending on the room type. You may browse the Residential Village page to understand more about the accommodation.

Does UTP provide sponsorship?
No. UTP only offers placement for students to further their studies. However, there are certain UTP financial assistance available for those who meet the requirements/criteria. Qualified students will be assisted by the Sponsorship & Welfare Unit in applying for available sponsorship / financial assistance (PTPTN, JPA, MARA, PETRONAS etc.)

Is a traditional discipline-based engineering degree more rigorous than an integrated multidisciplinary engineering degree?
Both have their strengths. A traditional degree offers deep specialization, while an integrated multidisciplinary degree develops versatility and adaptability—qualities increasingly valued by employers. Many industries today prefer engineers who can work across disciplines and tackle complex real-world problems.

Can graduates pursue further studies?
Yes, graduates can continue with Master’s or PhD programmes in engineering or related fields.
